Chapter 96
As expected, the moment I answered Bree's call, she asked me to come home for dinner. I knew it was just an excuse. She must have had something else she wanted to discuss.
"Bree, I've enjoyed the tacos you made, but I really can't come home right now. The amusement park project is in a rush to meet the deadline, and I'm working day and night.
"I'll come back when I get a break." I declined but also promised.
"Sigh, why is Chris making you rush through a tight deadline? It's not like the world is ending. I'll scold him for this later." Bree huffed playfully.
"It's not his fault, Bree. The deadline was fixed long ago," I explained.
Chris had never let our personal issues affect work.
"Alright then, work is important." Bree hung up, clearly upset and disappointed.
But there was no helping it. I was truly busy with work. Even if I weren't, I couldn't just drop by Gildon estate like I used to. Perhaps with enough disappointment, she'll eventually come to accept it.
