Chapter 898
The day before I went to find Chris, I had a dream about him. I guess it was because I'd been thinking about him so much.
In the dream, he was standing at the foot of my bed, wearing a white robe. "Maddie, look at me," he said.
I opened my eyes. When I saw him, I felt a little dazed, as if I was looking at a heavenly angel rather than him.
"Why are you here? I was planning to go visit you," I mumbled, sitting up.
"Yeah, I know. That's why I came to see you." Chris looked the same, but he had lost a lot of weight, and there was an ethereal quality about him.
I smiled and said, "Then why didn't you answer my calls? I was worried about you." Yet, as the words left my mouth, a deep pain welled up within me, as though my heart were being crushed.
