Chapter 687
A sharp pain shot through my fingertip. I instinctively yanked my hand back, but Jasper held it steady, whispering, "Hang in there. It'll be over soon."
His tone was a lot softer, completely unlike the cold vibe he'd given off before. I was confused by the sudden shift and just couldn't make sense of him.
The nurse was quick and professional, pulling a shard of glass out of my finger and holding it up for me to see.
"Look. It's pretty big. It would've kept hurting if we hadn't taken it out."
I didn't even notice when the glass got stuck in my hand. It must've happened when I grabbed the ashtray to smash the overweight guy.
The nurse cleaned my wound and put on a bandage.
"Thank you," Jasper said to her as he let go of my hand.
Feeling awkward, I pulled my hand back, looked at the bandage, and then back at him. "What about you?"
"Me?" Jasper asked but quickly understood what I meant. "I'm fine. I didn't get hurt."
