Chapter 504
"Brandon!"
I called out to him as I reached out and grabbed his arm.
He turned to me, and our eyes met. My eyes were trembling, and my lips were quivering.
Although I didn't say anything, he seemed to understand me. As my throat constricted to the point of pain, he said in a low, hoarse voice, "We need an answer."
As soon as he finished speaking, he brushed off my hand and took the envelope. He opened it with lightning speed as if he were afraid that I would stop him if he hesitated.
The yellowed paper inside had a few lines of text written on it. I didn't look at it.
Brandon, on the other hand, read it carefully, line by line. When he finished, he looked up at Officer Jason. His eyes seemed to search for confirmation of something.
"This investigation means a lot, so when I wrote the report, I had it verified by three different repair shops. The results are all in the envelope."
His explanation prompted Brandon to open the envelope again.
