Brandon's single sentence hit me like a punch to the gut. I could tell that he had misunderstood me because of that fabricated news story.
Though I did have some responsibility in the situation, I was still angry. We had promised to trust each other, yet with just one news article, he was punishing me without even asking for my side of the story.
Frustration surged in my chest as I snapped in return, "If I say it's inconvenient for you to come in, are you going to turn around and leave?"
"Yes!" he responded, just as blunt and straightforward as ever.
I ground my teeth in annoyance. "Brandon, you're absolutely unbeatable when it comes to being a jerk."
Instead of giving me a response, he looked at me calmly. Somehow, that made it impossible for me to hurl any more harsh words at him.
