Chapter 422
Chris' expression stiffened, his gaze wavering. Then, his gaze dropped to Brandon's and my tightly held hands. He didn't speak, and neither did I.
Brandon broke the silence first.
"Good morning, Mr. Gildon."
Morning, indeed! The sky hadn't even brightened yet.
Chris snapped out of his daze at Brandon's greeting. His jaw tightened, and his eyes locked onto mine. "Maddie, I need to talk to you."
I could have refused, but I didn't.
Some things need to be cleared up. Once they were said, there would be no need to bring them up again.
"Brandon, you should go upstairs. I feel like having milk." I spoke to Brandon like any wife would their husband.
Brandon hummed in agreement and adjusted my clothes, saying, "It's chilly in the morning." He then got into the elevator and headed up.
Chris didn't pull me away immediately. Instead, he kept his eyes on the elevator's numbers. Only when it stopped did he finally look at me. "When did you buy this apartment?" he asked.
