Jewel became livid upon hearing my words.
Honestly, the act she was putting on was terrible. If she wanted to be the third party, she should have done it with confidence, especially since Chris had already given her the house that was supposed to be mine.
She should have been more assertive. But instead, she acted as if she was innocent, even though she was doing something this shameful. It was like she wanted to play both the victim and the villain.
"Madeline, Chris won't like you if you act like this."
Jewel actually had the audacity to say that.
I couldn't help but chuckle. I'd be out of my mind if I were still hoping for his affection.
"Keep his affection for yourself," I retorted.
Jewel's eyes instantly filled with tears of grievance, proving that having Gordon stay was the right decision. Without him, her tears would make any explanation difficult.
"Madeline, what do you mean by that? Aren't you getting married today?" Jewel asked, her eyes gleaming with hope.
