Behind the scenes, however, tensions continued to mount within the Preston family. Edward, backed into a corner and increasingly isolated, lashed out at those he perceived as traitors and opportunists.
"You're all fools, blind to Julian's machinations," he raged at Victoria, his face contorted with fury. "He's playing you, playing all of us, and by the time you realize it, it will be too late."
