CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT – CAUSING A SCENE
The road ahead would be difficult, she knew. But as she looked into Richard's eyes, seeing the love and determination there, Charlotte allowed herself to believe that maybe, just maybe, they could overcome anything life threw their way.
The idea for the charity event at The Rusty Anchor came about during a slow afternoon shift. Charlotte was wiping down tables when Mr. Davies approached her, a rare look of excitement on his usually gruff face.
"Charlotte, I've been thinking," he began, stroking his mustache thoughtfully. "We could use a bit of good publicity for the pub. What do you say to hosting a charity event?"
Charlotte's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "A charity event? Here?"
Mr. Davies nodded enthusiastically. "Aye, why not? We could raise money for the local children's hospital. It'd be good for business and good for the community."
As they discussed the details, Charlotte felt a spark of excitement. This was just what she needed to take her mind off her troubles with Richa
