CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO – A LUCKY ESCAPE
Her senses were on high alert as she navigated the maze of corridors, each step bringing her closer to freedom. Just as she rounded a corner, she heard voices approaching. Panicking, she ducked into a nearby storage room, pressing herself against the wall as the voices grew louder.
"...can't believe we're stuck on guard duty again," one of the men grumbled. "I'd rather be out there with the boss."
"Yeah, well, at least we're not the ones dealing with that crazy broad," the other replied with a chuckle. "She's got some fight in her, I'll give her that."
The voices faded as the men continued down the hall, and Charlotte let out a silent sigh of relief. She waited a few moments longer before slipping out of the storage room and continuing her escape.
Finally, she reached a door that led to the outside. She could see the faint glow of streetlights through the small window, and her heart quickened with anticipation. She tried the handle, but it was locked. Undeterred, she searched the r
