CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY –MOVING TO THE SAFEHOUSE
Charlotte peered up at him, her eyes a maelstrom of conflicting emotions – fear and doubt warring with the unbridled love and trust that had sustained them through so many trials. Finally, after a long, tremulous moment, she gave a small nod.
"Together," she whispered, clinging to him as though he were her sole anchor in a raging storm. "No matter what it takes, we face this together."
Julian pulled her close, pressing his lips to her forehead in a tender, reassuring kiss.
"Together," he echoed, his voice a solemn vow.
For a few, blessed moments, they simply held each other, drawing strength from their unbreakable bond as the world seemed to narrow to just the two of them, a solitary point of light amidst the encroaching darkness.
