"We're here today to discuss this with you. We disagree with your idea of training Cedric. Are you certain he's the right fit for this? You haven't even married yet. What you're doing is simply asking for trouble," Bryce said before sighing. His words clearly took Scarlett aback. She asked, "Mr. Payne, what do you mean?" If the board had rejected her for that reason alone, they could have simply gotten married sooner. "Lettie, I want to clarify that I'm not singling you out. Leroy is Ashbourne's youngest and most promising doctor, while Cedric's background remains a mystery. Are you aware of his reputation overseas?" Scarlett frowned at Bryce's accusations, wondering if the board had discovered something. With this concern in mind, Scarlett began to pose indirect questions, seeking clarity on the situation. "Mr. Payne, don't you think that's a bit arbitrary? I know Cedric well, and I'm certain he loves me wholeheartedly," Scarlett said confidently. Yet, Bryce continued to smile.
