CHAPTER FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE – WHO SPEAKS THE TRUTH?
Jasmine hugged herself, suddenly cold despite the warm night. "I'm going to call a cab. I need to be alone tonight."
Marco nodded, his shoulders slumped in defeat. "I understand. But Jasmine, please... don't give up on us. On what we have. I swear to you, I'll find a way to prove that Isabella is lying."
Jasmine met his gaze, wanting desperately to believe him. "I hope you can, Marco. Because right now, I don't know what to think."
As she walked away to hail a cab, Jasmine felt as if she were leaving a piece of her heart behind on that sidewalk. The night that had started so perfectly had ended in chaos and heartbreak, leaving her to wonder if anything in her life would ever be simple again.
As Jasmine sat in the back of the taxi, the city lights blurred through her tear-filled eyes. She couldn't bring herself to return to the Cesaro compound—not tonight. The thought of facing Marco's family, of trying to explain what had happened, was too much to bear.
