CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE – GREATEST HOSPITALITY
As they sat down to a hearty meal of feijoada, rice, and fresh fruits, Jasmine felt the tension of the past few days start to melt away. The family was warm and welcoming, peppering them with questions about their journey and sharing stories of their own.
"So, you're artists?" João asked, passing a bowl of farofa. "What kind of art do you make?"
Jasmine swallowed a mouthful of the delicious stew. "I'm a painter, primarily. I work with oils and acrylics, mostly abstract pieces inspired by nature and emotion."
Lenny chimed in, "And I'm a sculptor. I like to work with found objects, turning trash into treasure, you know?"
The oldest son, Lucas, leaned forward eagerly. "That sounds so cool! I love art. Maybe you could teach me some techniques while you're here?"
Jasmine smiled. "We'd love to. But we really need to figure out how to get to São Paulo. We're already late for the Biennale."
