Chapter 598 Uneasy
I've always had a mild case of night blindness.
When the lights went out, the sudden darkness made it impossible to see. Time crawled by as I tried to get up, but I couldn't find my bearings. Eventually, I bumped my head on the desk.
"Damn it," I muttered under my breath, wishing I could give Emma a piece of my mind for leaving the lights off.
My phone was still on the desk, and I regretted not keeping it in my hand. After what felt like an eternity, I finally managed to crawl out from under the desk and grope for my phone.
Just as I grabbed it, the lights flicked on.
Startled, I instinctively used my hair to shield my face, only to hear Jack chuckle softly.
"Scared, huh? Though, honestly, the way you look right now is scarier," he teased.
Relieved to see it was just him, I quickly tried to fix my hair. "What are you doing back here?"
