Samuel's gaze was like a dark weight on Shelmaine. She stopped but did not turn around, and her eyes were like shards of ice as she asked, "What do you want?"
"Did you relocate your studio because of me?" When Shelmaine did not respond, Samuel pressed grimly, "Are you worried that I'd make trouble for you?"
This time, she said curtly, "Yes."
Samuel drawled, "If I wanted to give you hell, I'd hunt you down no matter where you moved."
She ground out, "Then please leave me alone and stop making things hard for me. Please."
"You don't sound sincere," he remarked dryly.
"Do you want me to beg on my knees? You'd stoop so low to humiliate me?" Shelmaine countered.
Samuel froze and said nothing. Shelmaine had no idea what he was playing at. Why did he have to go to such lengths to bother her? She doubted picking on her was so fun that it warranted a trip here.
