Helen didn't notice that Julien's gaze lingered on her for a moment.
By the time she turned around, she only caught a glimpse of his back as he entered the elevator?
He left? A wave of disappointment washed over her.
The next moment, she gathered her things and headed out. She hurried into the elevator, her heart heavy.
In the lobby, Helen spotted a familiar figure in the lounge area. Julien was standing there, smoking with his back turned to her. His slender fingers held a cigarette, wisps of smoke curling into the rainy air. The gloomy weather seemed to heighten the dark, brooding aura surrounding him.
She quickly ducked behind a decorative tree, afraid Julien would notice her.
Why hadn't he left yet?
Her phone buzzed suddenly, the screen lighting up with a WhatsApp notification.
It was from Julien. "Aren't you coming over?"
What did he mean by that?
Helen stared at the message, confused. Did he see her?
Another message came through. "Helen, I saw you."
