Chapter 39
After checking the text, Shelmaine didn't respond. She called an Uber and headed to the studio.
Jennifer was there. When Shelmaine arrived, Jennifer was all alone in the vast studio.
"How are you doing?" Jennifer asked.
She was smoking. When she saw Shelmaine return, she immediately put out the cigarette and opened the windows to air out the room.
"I'm fine," Shelmaine said, pouring Jennifer a glass of water.
Shelmaine sat down and continued, "Jennifer, I have something to discuss with you."
"What is it?" she said as she gazed at her computer, not even batting an eye. Before Shelmaine could continue, Jennifer started talking about Dora.
"Dora isn't answering my calls or replying to my WhatsApp messages. I'm not sure if she's avoiding me. I plan to meet her this afternoon to talk it out. But if it falls through and she insists on leaving, we can only let her go."
