Chapter 332
Josie shoved the file stack aside and squatted before Julien. "Julien, I'm talking to you!"
"I heard you," he finally responded, his eyes fixed on the computer screen. "Now that you've said what you needed to, go. I have work to do."
"What are you doing?" she cried out, exasperated. "Aren't you going to talk to Shelmaine to clear things up?"
Julien's fingers paused on the keyboard. His gaze lowered, and the light that once filled his eyes had long since disappeared, leaving only an overwhelming emptiness.
"She doesn't want me anymore."
The neon lights outside filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a cold glow over the desolate office. He hunched over his desk, his shoulders heavy with the company's struggles.
So many problems demanded his attention; if he didn't handle them well, everything he'd built over the years would come crashing down.
"I think Shelmaine must have her reasons!" Josie's voice softened, her instincts telling her that Shelmaine wasn't acting
