Luna didn't show up, and no other family members miraculously appeared. After Ian pleaded with Dr. Sanders, he finally agreed to let him sign the paperwork for my surgery.
I felt clear-headed enough to sign it myself. I was an adult. Why couldn't I put my name on a document that determined my fate?
With Dr. Sanders' arrangements, I was taken to the operating room the same day. He had probably expected that this moment would come.
As the anesthesia took effect, I slowly closed my eyes. At that moment, I was unaware of everything around me. I just hoped that if the surgery was successful, I would feel a bit better afterward.
