Chapter 29
Before Luna could take off my mask, I gripped her wrist firmly and drawled, "Taking off the mask would spoil the mystery, don't you think? I should warn you that in the event you're disappointed with my looks, the tip you gave me is non-refundable."
I knew what Luna wanted: escapism. Unfortunately, she ran into me tonight—a sheer coincidence that put a wrench in her plans.
She hesitated at my warning, then broke into a smile as she said, "You're right. I guess the mystery is what makes the moment magical."
She pulled out of my grip and did not try to take off my mask again. After that, we talked, though her conversations were idle and choppy.
