Chapter 63: Partial Truths
The dimly lit bar was almost empty except for the few regulars who nursed their drinks in dark corners. Nathan sat at the farthest booth, his fingers tapping an impatient beat upon the gashed wooden top of a table. His eyes flickered at the door every time it creaked open, twisting in his gut in anticipation and dread.
It wasn't until Jack Malone finally walked in, however, rain-speckled the weathered trench coat, that Nathan's heart leaped into his throat. Sliding into the booth across from him, the private investigator signaled a whiskey with the bartender before he turned that piercing gaze on Nathan.
"Mr. Carter." Malone nodded, his voice low and rough. "I appreciate you meeting me here. Neutral ground, you understand."
Nathan nodded, leaning forward. "What did you find out?"
Malone took a sip of his just-arrived whiskey before turning to speak. "Olivia Greene has indeed moved, as you suspected. She is living in a loft in the arts district, 1542 Maple Street. It's a nice place—
