CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN - OFFBEAT PURSUIT
Their final stop was Peggy Sue's Diner, a 1950s-style eatery complete with jukebox and roller-skating waitresses. They spread out, questioning staff and customers alike, but no one had seen Clarissa.
As they regrouped outside the diner, Mara could feel the frustration building in the group.
"This is hopeless," Emily groaned. "We're never going to find her."
Mara shook her head, trying to stay positive. "We can't give up. Let's split up again, cover more ground. Natalie, you're with me. We'll check out that famous chapel, the one known for quick weddings."
"You don't think Clarissa would actually get married, do you?" Natalie asked, eyes wide.
Mara shrugged. "At this point, I wouldn't rule anything out."
The Little White Wedding Chapel was bustling with activity when they arrived. Couples in various states of dress and sobriety milled about, waiting for their turn to tie the knot.
