Betray Her Confidence
As our family prepared to board the plane, Tristan and Kingsley came to the airport to see us off.
Kingsley held Ken in his arms, gently stroking the boy’s head.
‘Ken, can you bring back a big shell from the island for Uncle Kingsley?’ Kingsley asked, a smile on his face.
‘Sure!’ Ken replied with a wide grin, planting a peck on the man’s cheek.
Kingsley’s eyes shone with tender emotion. ‘Thanks, little guy. When you come back, I’ll teach you how to box.’
Ken’s eyes lit up. ‘Pinky swear?’
‘Pinky swear.’
They hooked their little fingers together, sharing a grin.
‘All right, time to go,’ Kieran finally interrupted.
He reached out and plucked Ken out of Kingsley’s arms.
Kingsley grumbled, ‘Come on. Can’t you at least let me have one quick hug?’
‘Bro, if you like kids so much, go have one of your own.’ Kieran smirked. ‘Oh, I forgot. You don’t even have a girlfriend.’
He shrugged, totally unapologetic. ‘Sorry.’
My heart skipped a beat when Kieran mentioned Kingsley having a child.
