I was rendered speechless.
‘Good night.’ Kingsley unlocked his room and nodded at me politely.
‘Good night.’ I escaped into my room, shut the door behind me, and blew out a long breath.
It was a long and weird night.
I was tired, but I couldn’t go to bed while my clothes still reeked of the drunkards’ filthy touch.
I ran a warm bath, then I covered the bathroom mirror with a big fluffy towel.
Still, I hesitated in front of the bathtub.
I caught my reflection in the clear water surface, which was, in a way, like a mirror.
What if I started seeing things again?
I stood in the bathroom, indecisive.
In the end, I gave in to my inner voice and reached for my phone.
I video-called Kieran.
He picked up after the first ring. ‘Hi, honey. Is everything okay?’
The sight of his face produced an immediate calming effect on me. ‘I’m about to take a bath. Stay with me.’
