‘Conor wrote you that letter,’ Kieran said. ‘You never saw it. The most likely scenario is, Brennan did. He read it, didn’t like the idea of Conor coming back to marry you one day, especially if he believed Conor had a reason to hate him.’
I nodded. ‘Conor made it pretty clear he blamed Brennan for his parents’ deaths.’
‘Right.’ Kieran swirled the glass in hand. ‘So he, Brennan, made sure you never saw the letter. Then, as a precaution, in case Conor did return and seek you out, Brennan arranged for Landon to ask you out.’
‘No,’ I disagreed automatically. ‘You are making it sound like Brennan set up the whole thing—Landon, the proposal, the marriage.’
