Awkward Timing
The hallway was lavish as an oligarch’s living room but quiet as a museum.
My feet all but sank into the plush carpet as I stepped out of the lift.
I walked past oil paintings of old guys who were probably long dead, paused at a small table that held a golden Buddha statuette, noticed it wasn’t the same one Erin had stolen—this one was bigger.
There was no front desk or reception area here, nor any offices that I could see except for a huge double mahogany door at the end of the hallway, wide open.
I steadied myself, took another deep breath, marched towards it.
Then stopped cold when I caught a sound.
A man’s grunt.
‘…That’s it…Good girl…Hmm…’
Followed by a throaty purr.
Though I had only ever been intimate with one man, Kieran had taught me plenty.
I recognised the moan of a man while he was being, most likely, orally gratified.
The voice was low and husky, but it carried in the quiet hallway.
And I knew to whom the voice belonged.
