“Candice, open the door,” Leonardo said. His tone was calm, which only made it more unsettling. Candice knew him too well. She pressed her hand over her mouth and tried to stay silent. She could not risk giving herself away. “I’m saying this for the last time. Open the door!” His voice was sharp as he lost his patience.
