CHAPTER NINETY-ONE - THE FINAL TEST
The early morning sun cast long shadows across the streets of New York as Leon's sleek sports car pulled up in front of Nia's apartment building. Nia, dressed in form-fitting running gear, stepped out onto the sidewalk, her breath visible in the crisp air.
"Morning, beautiful," Leon called out, lowering his sunglasses with a grin. "Ready to hit the park?"
Nia couldn't help but smile as she slid into the passenger seat. "As ready as I'll ever be at this ungodly hour."
They drove in comfortable silence, the city slowly coming to life around them. As they entered Central Park, the world seemed to shift – the concrete jungle giving way to a oasis of green.
"Race you to Bethesda Fountain?" Leon challenged, already breaking into a jog.
"Oh, you're on!" Nia laughed, sprinting to catch up.
They ran side by side, their rhythmic footfalls accompanied by the chirping of early birds. As they rounded a bend, Leon spoke between breaths.
"So, any exciting plans for the weekend?"
