CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN - Something Feels Different Today
One afternoon, as Will finished adjusting a stubborn window, he turned to Nia with an air of hesitation that was uncharacteristic for his usually confident demeanor.
"Say, Nia," he began, fiddling with the screwdriver in his hand, "I was wondering if you might be interested in joining the local hiking group? We meet every Saturday morning, explore some beautiful trails around here."
Nia looked up from her computer, surprised by the invitation. "Oh, I don't know, Will. I'm not much of an outdoors person..."
Will's face fell slightly, and Nia felt a twinge of guilt. She had to admit, his interest was flattering, and maybe getting out into nature wouldn't be such a bad thing.
"But you know what?" she continued, offering a smile. "Maybe it's time I gave it a try. Count me in for this Saturday."
The grin that spread across Will's face was almost boyish in its enthusiasm. "Great! You won't regret it, I promise. The fall colors are spectacular right now."
As Will left, whistling a cheer
