CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN - Whispers That Stir the Stillness
"Really?" Nia perked up. "I love hiking! I've been meaning to explore, but I wouldn't know where to start."
Will's grin widened. "Well, I'd be happy to show you around sometime. There's this great trail that leads to a hidden waterfall. Not many tourists know about it."
Before she could second-guess herself, Nia heard herself say, "That sounds amazing. Why don't we grab lunch? You can tell me all about the local trails."
Will's eyebrows rose in pleasant surprise. "I'd like that. Sally's Diner okay with you?"
An hour later, Nia found herself seated across from Will in a cozy booth at Sally's Diner. The place was a charming throwback to the 1950s, complete with checkered floors and cherry-red vinyl seats. The air was thick with the smell of fresh coffee and sizzling burgers.
"So," Will said, leaning forward with a conspiratorial grin, "ready to hear about Tarrytown's best-kept secrets?"
Nia matched his posture, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Lay it on me, trail master."
