Chapter 17

Jonas turned his face in surprise, looked at him and said, "Huh? You know this too?" After Shane reacted, she hurriedly explained, "Oh, no. I didn't mean that. I'm just curious why do you say that your uncle is like that?" Jonas looked pained, and Shane couldn't help but sympathize. "If you were stabbed on your back twice, how would you feel?", Jonas said. Shane didn't understand what he meant and looked at him puzzled. Jonas didn’t seem to have the patience to explain. He turned his head and said, “Miss Shane, can’t I beg you? I promise I won’t show up when your boyfriend is around. I was forced to go nowhere. Anyway, once you are my teacher, please do me a favor..." Shane refused again, saying, "No, I can't..." However, before she finished her words, Jonas slammed the brakes and almost threw her out due to her inertia. There was a vast expanse of whiteness in front of him, watching the agitated snow falling from the front of the windshield outside the car and Shane was shocked. A woman screamed in pain outside the car and fell to the ground. Shane and Jonas looked at each other, and the two hurriedly unfastened their seat belts, pushed the car door and walked... Due to the slippery snowy road, the yellow sports car stopped horizontally in the middle of the road. Not far away, a woman in her 40s was twisting her face in pain with a hand on her waist, "Ouch". Jonas stepped forward, looking down at the woman sitting on the ground, and said angrily, "Don't you use your fucking eyes when walking? Don't you know how to stop?" The woman sitting on the ground turned pale, and continued to howl, "You still act so fierce after hitting someone? Is there no justice in this world? Just because you have a luxurious car, does it mean you can hit anyone?" People in twos and threes gathered around, accusing Jonas one by one for what happened. Jonas' face was aggrieved. The woman was obviously victim playing. He knew very well that his car hadn't touched her. If he didn't have good driving skills and turned the direction in time, he might have really hit it. Shane frowned and glanced at Jonas, stepped forward, helped the woman sitting on the ground and asked, "Do you feel any discomfort?" The woman knew that Shane got out of the car with Jonas. Seeing that she couldn't convince him, she wept at Shane in a blink of an eye, "Miss, you must help me. He was obviously driving the car but still don’t admit it. I feel sorry for my sick old mother in the house. Now that I am hit like this by him, who will take care of my poor old mother?" Shane also understood what the woman is trying to say, so she stood up and said to Jonas, "Let's take her to the hospital for a checkup in case she is really hurt..." When the woman heard this, she immediately interrupted, "I can't go. I have to take care of my old mother in the hospital bed, I can't go..." Shane turned around, walked to the woman, squatted down, looked at her directly, and said, "Auntie, if you really don't want to go to the hospital, then I can only call the police." The woman's face changed, she quickly grabbed Shane's coat, got up from the ground, pretended to move her waist, and said in a nonchalant manner, "I think I can move. Don't mind it. I will not insist..." After speaking, the woman left in a panic as if she wants to fly. The crowd dispersed, Jonas looked unhappy, turned around and said to Shane, "Forget it, let's go..." Shane nodded and took the seat of the co-pilot. But just after sitting down, she touched the seat behind her with her hand, and suddenly said with a panic: "Oh my God, my bag is gone!" Jonas also followed back and looked behind Shane. Indeed, Shane's dark coffee handbag was placed on the co-pilot's seat, and it is indeed nowhere to be seen. Shane instantly understood that the car accident was planned. Thinking of this, Shane pushed the car door open and chased in the direction of the woman. But there is no trace of the woman. Shane squatted on the side of the road alone, sobbing. There was a check for 2 million from Lance in her handbag. Not only that, but now she has lost her mobile phone and can't contact Rose in the coffee shop... The yellow sports car stopped on the side of the road. Jonas got out of the car and looked down at Shane who was squatting on the ground and unwilling to raise her head. "Forget it. You just lost a wallet..." Jonas's voice sounded above her head. Shane got up, wiped away the salty tears at the corners of her mouth, and shouted at him, "Do you know that it has a life-saving money of 2 million? Where can I find the 2 million in such a short period of time?!" Shane felt that all her bad luck was attributed to Jonas. If he hadn't asked her to get in the car halfway, maybe she had already rushed to the coffee shop by now, and she wouldn't have lost all the money. Thinking of her relationship with Lance, Shane was completely desperate. Lance couldn't give her any more money.
