CHAPTER 12 PARENTAL CONFRONTATION
Jenna woke up the following morning feeling the after effects of the previous night, a warmth that still lingered. The time with Ryan had been a fairy-tale, or rather the best fairy-tale, as she had felt safe and explored at the same time. As she put on her school uniform, she remembered every word that he had uttered to her and thought of it, and felt a jerk of happiness on her lips. However, as she started moving downwards the stair case, she had a feeling something was wrong. She understood that she would have to answer her parents’ questions about Ryan, particularly after the dinner attempt.
Breakfast was tense since everybody could feel the unsettled state of the family. Her parents looked at each other, and they obviously were expecting the right moment to broach the subject that has been pending since Ryan left their home. Tommy was aware of this and decided to avoid the conflict, he bowed down and began eating his cereal.
