18 A STEP INTO NEW LIFE

PERCY'S POV “I hope you won the battle, friend?” I said to her even when I knew she could not hear me. I stood from her bed and made to head for the door, but I was pulled back. I looked down and realized Karen was holding my hand tightly. I tried to loosen her grips, but it was too tight. So as not to wake her, I had no other choice than to sit with her till she was awake. I got the chance to fully register her face in my memories. I watched her and the smile on her face as she slept. She looked like a goddess, indeed. A happy goddess. On one hand, I was glad she finally moved away from her ex husband. On the other hand, I am highly sad about her present situation, what she went through and how she is feeling. I knew everything happens for a reason and probably the reason she had to go through such hardship, is so we could meet. Did she really have to go through such pains? I was still lost in thought until an angelic voice snapped me to reality
