CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY SEVEN – INTERVIEWING SUBJECTS

"Jack, look at this," she said excitedly. "Remember Mrs. Holloway, the neighbor we interviewed? She mentioned her gardener had a tattoo on his wrist." Jack's eyes lit up. "And the Holloways live right next door to our victims. The gardener would have had a perfect view of the house." Their excitement was tempered when they discovered the gardener had left town shortly after the robbery. But this disappearance only fueled their suspicions. As they dug deeper into the gardener's background, they uncovered a web of connections they hadn't seen before. He had worked for several of their suspects over the years, including the rival collector and the family member with gambling debts. "It's like he's the missing link," Rebecca mused. "But how does he fit into all of this?" Their investigation led them to a seedy bar on the outskirts of town, where the gardener was known to frequent. As they entered, Rebecca felt a prickle of unease. "Jack," she whispered, "I think we're being watched."
