Chapter 36 A Web of Secrets and Lies

It was a cold morning when Louis received a text message from his father, informing him of a mandatory dinner that evening. It was Robert’s birthday, and Louis knew that his father didn’t like to celebrate his birthday in a grand way, especially since Marcus had fallen into a coma. Every year, he would gather his family to celebrate, but it always felt like a funeral service for his brother, with his father talking about how much he missed Marcus and one or two family members inevitably bursting into tears. Louis felt guilty about this, but since Marcus was now well, things would definitely be different, which is why he had to attend the dinner even though he didn’t feel like going, especially with the whole Beth and Nicole situation Seconds later, his mother called. “Ugh,” he grimaced, knowing that he was going to get the speech of his life. He reluctantly picked up the phone. “Hey, Mom,” he said with a fake smile on his face. “Hey, my son. I just wanted to remind you that today i
