Chapter 14

NEON's perspective “I should let you know. I never wanted to deceive you, it’s just that we live in a different world.” His rough hand rubbed my back soothingly. I could feel her heartbeat, and her breath against my body. “That night I found you, happens to be the best night I have ever had, never have I imagined that I would find you at the mating ritual or that you would be human,” I whispered into her ears, Aria had calmed and she was just listening to what I was saying to her. My wolf was happy, and I was too that she wasn’t pushing us away again like she did earlier. “I can’t let you leave the pack because you will only get into danger, there are rogues in the woods and they would...” I pursed my lips. “I won’t let anything happen to you, and you are safe with me.” I stroke her hair affectionately with my fingers. I would keep the guards at watch, though I have warned her not to leave but Aria has a mind of her own, and she’s not like the werewolves I could easily control. She wasn’t marked and she might be in danger if she falls into the hands of an enemy or a rogue outside my pack. Then, it would be difficult to protect her, I can only protect her now that she is in my territory. “Aria?” I shook her a little when I didn’t hear anything from her except her soft breathing. I held her in my arms lifted her face, and found her sleeping peacefully. I chuckled as to how she could sleep so easily, and admired her beautiful she looked even while sleeping. I tucked the strand of hair off the sides of her face and placed them neatly beside her ears. “I won’t force you to do anything, I will let you make your own decisions and choices but I will only come in when I have to protect you, keeping you safe is my priority,” I said quietly. “...and I have to hide your identity as human to the pack elders and the rest of the members in the pack. They can’t know that you are a human.” I kissed her forehead before placing her on the bed gently and covered her with the duvet. I sat beside her for a while with my elbow on the bed and hands on the jaw, watching my mate sleep. ‘I’m glad we were able to pass through this, I thought she was going to hate us.’ My wolf muttered. I exhaled deeply. ‘She hasn’t said anything, and I have to do anything for her to stay beside me.’ ‘We have to win her heart.’ I nodded curtly agreeing with Jax, and stood up from the bed when I remembered my Beta had been standing outside the door for hours. I pushed the door open and stepped out shutting it gently behind me, so I didn’t wake her up. “Alpha.” Silas bowed. “How is she?” “She’s asleep. Let’s talk in the office.” I tapped him over the shoulders and strolled over to the upstairs office. Silas followed behind me in silence, and we didn’t say a word till we got to the office door. “Let me open it, Alpha.” I allowed him to, and we both walked into the office, I turned on the light and brightened up the space. Taking a seat on the easy chair, and ordered Silas to do the same thing. He rubbed his hands together, lifted his gaze, and stared at me. “Alpha.” He began. I know Silas has something important to say each time he rubbed his sweaty palms together. ”Go on, Silas.” He sighed and averted his gaze from my face for a moment. “I think you have to make a decision Alpha, she has found out about our world, and that you are an Alpha and what we are.” He paused and exhaled, he turned on his seat and was facing me. “The workers in the house sooner or later will find out that she’s human.” “We have to make sure that doesn’t happen, and there won’t be any means for her to the exposed to the pack members,” I said to him. Silas nodded. “For how long?” He asked. I rubbed my jaw, I hadn’t thought about how long we were going to keep her that way. “You have to find a way Alpha, accept her as your mate and show her to the pack members, or reject her and send her away from our pack!” Silas' voice rose. “I can’t expose her.” I ruffled my hair with both hands. “Then you planned to keep her like a prisoner?” “I am not keeping her as a prisoner!” I yelled. “...I am doing this to protect her and that’s final. I will do anything to keep her beside me, I have accepted her as my mate, Silas. You know the pack is against humans! You know what would happen to her if they found out.” “I know Alpha.” Silas lowered his gaze. “She’s not prepared to face them.” I sighed and stared at the blank wall in front of me. “Is that what she wants? Did you ask her what she wants, Alpha?” “Silas!” I growled. “What about what I want, you know how I desperately searched for my mate all these years and never found her, and now she’s here. I will keep her, at all cost.” I stated firmly. “The pack elders want to know when you will fix a date for the ceremony.” “What ceremony?” I snapped my head towards him. “It seems you have forgotten, Alpha. You were supposed to make Diana your Luna and take her as your mate. The pack elders want to know what date it is and if you have met with the astronomer as you said and know a perfect day for the ceremony that will bring blessings.” “Tell them, the ceremony has been canceled.”
