Howard's reaction was the most dramatic of all, his head spinning as his words stumbled out, "Mr. Warrington, you...you're not supposed to..."
"Howard, you're fired," Cecil announced, rising with a predatory grace. His gaze, heavy with authority, pinned Howard in place, a man suddenly aware of the weight of his betrayal and the repercussions it might have not just on him but on The Llewellyn as well.
"Mr. Warrington, considering The Llewellyn's stature, are you not concerned about the backlash?" Elise managed, her voice steady but her heart racing.
Ivy couldn't help but question Elise's judgment—or lack thereof. To rely on Howard without fully understanding his standing within The Llewellyn was either bold or foolish.
