After that minor but unsettling incident, the anniversary celebration continued as planned.
I stayed in the corner, constantly checking the ring to ensure it didn't slip off. Even though I was trying to stay out of sight, people kept coming over to chat, and as Mrs. Pierce, I had to greet them with a smile.
Eventually, tired of making small talk with people I barely knew, I slipped away to the restroom. I didn't expect to run into a tipsy Sabrina.
