Chapter42:
I grinned at Nik and followed him to where he had parked the restaurant’s delivery van.
“Mama shut the restaurant for the day. Apparently a family gathering is in order, so you’d better break out those dancing shoes.” he warned, pumping up the volume and letting traditional Greek music flood the van.
I shook my head in horror as my crazy brother started grooving to the music. I would have ducked down in my seat and pretended that I didn’t exist, but it’s hard to feel embarrassed when it comes to Nik. I think I’m just too used to his crazy ways.
We pulled up outside the restaurant, a big sign plastered up on its front window saying in big, bold writing “Sorry, We Are Closed!” – clearly my father’s handwriting.
“Ah, they’re pulling out all the stops.” I mused, slipping out of the van as my brother opened my door.
“You have no idea, kiddo. None at all.” he mumbled back.
