Xyla felt a twinge of regret at not telling Moira that Sean was also present that day. Not only was he there, but Norman and Laura had also been trying to set him up with Wendy.
"Alright," Martha responded, relieved that the issue seemed to be resolved.
"Wendy, why don't you stay for dinner before you leave? And one more thing—don't put too much pressure on yourself," Jacob reminded.
He suspected that Wendy had overheard some of their conversation outside. Still, he admired her calm and resilient attitude in the face of adversity.
"Thank you, Mr. Horton, but I cooked dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Sadler before coming over. So, I'd already eaten with them," Wendy replied.
She hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. Before school started, she would have to endure some odd and questioning looks. But as long as she performed well in the placement test, those rumors about her incapability would be quashed.
