Chapter 78
When I closed my eyes, for some reason, I suddenly thought of Sophia.
When my father locked me up in a dark room back then, it was her who saved me.
She crawled in through the only window in that dark room and said, "Don't be scared. I promised to save you. I'll definitely get you out."
And she did.
I remembered it vividly. It was sunny outside that day, and her smile was just as radiant as the sun.
But now, she no longer smiled at me.
After I recalled that memory, I kept reminding myself over and over that Sophia was cruel and indifferent. I couldn't treat her well out of habit.
I gripped the blanket tightly in both hands and clenched my teeth through the pain to tell myself that I should live the rest of my life for no one but myself.
This agony dragged on for two days.
Jayden frequently came to see me during those two days, but he never stayed long. After all, he still had work to attend to.
