Sophia flinched at my scream, her body trembling as her movements paused for a moment.
In the next second, she pulled me out with even more urgency. "Joshua, hold on! I need to get you out of here now. If the bookshelf falls again, it could cause even more damage."
Standing beside us, Edison looked on, his dark eyes filled with gloom as he lowered his eyelids.
It seemed he had underestimated how much Sophia cared for me. Once she managed to drag me out from under the bookshelf, I collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.
The pain from the wounds covering my body was unbearable. It hurt so much that even breathing felt difficult.
Seeing me covered in blood, Sophia immediately searched the master bedroom for a first aid kit.
When she found it, she was so frantic that the contents spilled everywhere. Ignoring the mess, she quickly grabbed a piece of white gauze and rushed over to press it against the wound on the back of my head, trying to stop the bleeding.
