Alexia figured there was no reason to refuse if Calvin wanted to make amends.
His lips curved faintly, his expression unreadable.
But the fire in Alexia's chest hadn't extinguished. Feeling stifled, she muttered under her breath, "Guess the saying is true—misfits do attract each other. One can't see straight, the other's a total mess. What a match made in chaos."
Calvin raised an eyebrow. "What did you say?"
"Nothing," she shot back, her voice laced with sarcasm. "I was just complimenting you."
He gave her a pointed look, the corner of his lips lifting slightly. "I'm not deaf, you know."
Alexia's chest tightened, her breaths quickening with frustration. She bit her tongue to keep herself from snapping back, but she still thought to herself, "You're definitely not deaf, just blind—so blind you can't tell a good person from a bad one."
Grinding her teeth, she forced herself to stay silent. Calvin, for once, chose not to push her buttons further, letting it slide.
