Chapter 15
Alexia hastily shook her head. "Nothing. I just thought it must've been difficult for you to give birth to me back then. I was wondering if you ever regretted having me."
Christine chuckled and gently tapped her nose. "You're my precious gem. How could I have regretted it? I'm glad that I had you because it's the best decision I've ever made. Come, let's look at your baby photos. Just look, weren't you such an adorable baby?"
Alexia felt a wave of emotion wash over her as she stared at the chubby baby in the photos.
Meanwhile, a black luxury car arrived at the entrance of the Vega residence.
Hailey clung to Calvin's arm. "Mr. Reed, aren't you going to come in?"
"No."
Suddenly, she threw her arms around his waist, buried her face in his chest, and pleaded coquettishly, "Mr. Reed, stay with me tonight, will you?"
She was determined to get pregnant tonight since Alexia was pregnant.
At the thought of this, she boldly raised her head and kissed him.
Calvin grimaced at the sight of her bright red lips, feeling no desire whatsoever. It was strange because she did arouse him that night in the hotel. But all he felt now was a wave of nausea.
He turned his head aside, dodging her kiss.
Upon seeing his reaction, Hailey tightened her fists, and her expression was one of upset. "Mr. Reed."
"Some things are best left for after marriage," he said coldly. "Go home."
Despite her reluctance, she couldn't do much but helplessly get out of the car.
"Wait."
Calvin's sudden call made her stop in her tracks.
Hailey thought he had changed his mind and turned around excitedly.
"Don't use this perfume anymore. It smells awful. The scent you wore at the hotel that night was much nicer," he stated calmly.
She was taken aback for a time before nodding. "Sure. If you like it, I'll only wear that one from now on."
Calvin rolled down the window to get some fresh air when she left. Her perfume scent was so strong that it gave him a headache.
…
When Hailey entered the house, Maya asked, "Where's Mr. Reed? Didn't you say he was coming back with you? I have already made dinner."
"He left. There's a meeting at the company he needed to attend," Hailey replied sullenly.
Maya was displeased and poked her in the forehead. "Why can't you even keep hold of a man?"
Already in a bad mood, Hailey snapped back, "Why are you still scolding me when trouble is coming our way!"
"What happened?" Maya asked hurriedly.
"That bitch, Alexia, is pregnant. If Mr. Reed finds out, he will realize I'm a fraud. What if he abandons me?" Hailey's voice cracked, and she began to sob.
"What? Alexia is pregnant!" Maya couldn't believe it. "How do you know? Are you sure?"
Hailey pulled out a medical report out of her bag through tears.
Maya snatched the paper, and her expression grew darker the more she read. "Don't worry. I'll discuss this with your father. Just focus on becoming the future Mrs. Reed."
Hearing this, Hailey's teary expression turned into a smile as she hugged her mother. "Thanks, Mom. Once I marry into the Reed family, I'll buy you loads of jewelry and a big house!"
"Good girl. My future happiness depends on you, Mrs. Reed." Maya was lost in her daydreams as well.
Hailey's smile grew even brighter at her words.
The following morning, Alexia had just awoken when she received a call from Bobby. "Where are you?"
"What do you want?" she asked coldly.
"Come home immediately. I have something to talk to you about."
"I'm busy."
"The special medicine that the hospital gave to your mother is still at home. Come get it," he said, trying to convince her.
Alexia snorted, "Since when have you been so kind-hearted?"
"How dare you talk to me like that? Hurry up. I'm waiting at home," Bobby chastised.
She didn't trust him at all. "Either bring it over, or I'll get it when I have time."
At this point, he lost patience and urged, "Come now! Otherwise, I'll inform your mother that you're pregnant."
A rush of rage swept through Alexia, and she clutched her phone tightly. "You wouldn't dare!"
"You've got one hour to come home."
With that, he hung up the phone.
Just then, Christine walked over and asked, "Who was that on the phone?"
"Work. Mom, I won't have breakfast because I must go now."
Then, Alexia grabbed her bag and rushed out.
40 minutes later, she reached the Vega residence.
Bobby's face clouded as soon as he saw her, and he ordered, "Come with me to the hospital, and we'll get rid of that child."
"This is my own business. It doesn't concern you."
He eyed her up and down. "You are my daughter. Of course, it concerns me! It's awful enough that you lost your virginity, but now you're pregnant with someone else's child. Are you trying to embarrass me?"
Alexia's body trembled slightly with rage.
"If you hadn't forced me to go to that hotel and spend the night with Carter instead of Hailey, would I be like this now? You are responsible for this situation. Instead of blaming me, you should blame yourself. You are worse than an animal!"
Slap!
A loud smack fell on Alexia's cheek.
Upon seeing this, Maya pretended to be worried and intervened, remarking, "How could you hit your own child?"
Alexia was utterly disgusted by her pretentiousness. "Stop pretending. You're no better than he is!"
Surprisingly, she wasn't upset by her remarks. "Your father is doing this for your benefit. You just got married to Calvin. If the Reed family discovers you're pregnant with another man's child, what will happen to you?"
A cold sneer formed on Alexia's face. "Isn't that what you want? To see me get kicked out so Calvin can marry your daughter."
"You!" Maya clutched her chest, lost for words.
Bobby's patience had worn thin. "Enough of this nonsense! Pin her down."
Panic struck Alexia, and she bolted for the door.
However, the bodyguards were quicker. They captured her in an instant, tied her up, shoved a rag into her mouth, and threw her into the back seat.
Bobby and Maya also got inside the car.
The car drove out of the city, and the view outside the window became increasingly desolate.
Finally, the car stopped in front of a little clinic in a remote village.
Bobby had previously made arrangements with the doctor, so no one else was in the clinic. Following that, Alexia was brought into a dark, tiny room.
