Chapter 29 A Dinner
Everyone followed his gaze.
Tiffany stood at the door. The light illuminated her slightly curled golden hair, shrouding her in a soft light that made it look like she was an angel descending from the heavens.
One of the socialites recognized her. “I know her,” she whispered. “She’s the daughter of that entrepreneur, Ivan, who died recently.”
“Ivan? Is that the CEO of NC Company that’s in heavy debt?”
Everyone there judged everyone else by the extent of their wealth, so when they realized who Tiffany was, they quickly lost all interest in her. The admiration was quickly replaced with scorn.
“Where did she get the courage to attend an event like this? She’s just embarrassing herself.”
Tiffany didn’t hear what they were saying. She looked around for Mortimer.
She couldn’t find him even after going around the hall. Her feet hurt in the high heels, so she found a place to sit down and rest.
Just as she sat down, several people approached her. They looked at her up and down critically.
