Maeve left the bedside lamp on and quietly left the bedroom. Matthew was not in the living room, he was in his room instead, and his door was left partially open. Maeve knocked on the door. She then heard a cold voice coming from inside the room. “Come in.” Maeve originally wanted to ask him to come out. She did not expect him to call her in. Since the first day she moved in, Matthew had asked her to not touch the things in his room, as he would clean up and tidy the room himself. Hence, she never went into his room. Maeve felt inexplicably nervous. While she was having her dilemma, she heard him urging her to go in. “Why are you just standing there? Come in now.” Matthew was an impatient person, so there was already a hint of impatience in his tone. “Okay.” Maeve sucked in a deep breath before pushing the door open and walking in.
