Chapter 41
He had broken the Bond when he had broken his mate. He had not known that it was possible to do so, and yet, he could think of no other explanation for why her side of it would appear non-reactive. Her face and beautiful oddly blue eyes still showed emotion, so he knew that she still felt it, but the Bond was like a corpse in his mind, ghostly grey and limply unresponsive.
His first instinct was to take her to the mating platform and overwhelm her with him, as he had done to forge the Bond in the first place, but he did not think that method would be successful again, and he feared that putting her under that much stress would cause her to lose the kit that she carried.
And her face, that terrible grimace of pain and fear, the endless silent tears, had frightened him.
It shouldn t matter, he told himself. He should simply discard this mate now that the Bond was compromised and take another, he had a spare, a very good spare with the power of telepathy, on the level below. H
