CHAPTER 68: WHAT IF IT'S ALL FOR NOTHING?

CHARLES Marie kept looking in my direction as the Doctor at her front kept on speaking with her. I maintained my position as I did my best not to move an inch or risk being seen by Marie. "Hey Marie, is there a problem? Are you okay?" the Doctor said, slightly touching Marie on the arm. Marie nodded to affirm that she was okay while returning her attention to the Doctor. "I'm okay; I thought I saw someone I knew just now," Marie said. The Doctor looked at her, pushing down his glasses as he peered over her. He didn't seem to believe what she was saying, but then he couldn't fight her off. The Doctor motioned at Marie with the move of his hands. She drew closer while the Doctor spoke in an inaudible tone. After that, he scribbled down some notes on a sheet of paper and handed them over to Marie. I kept on watching from where I stood. Everything within me kept on screaming about the fact that I shouldn't be here. But how could I not be here when I had invested so much into Marie? S
