CHAPTER 36: DAYCARE GRAND OPENING

I woke up groggy, my head feeling like a sack of stones weighed it down. I groaned, rolling over onto my back, one hand resting protectively on my growing belly. "Please, no morning sickness today," I murmured to my baby, hoping my words held some magic that would keep the nausea at bay.
I let out a sigh before swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. My reflection in the mirror caught my eye as I stood, and I couldn't help but smile. My once flat stomach had grown into a small but noticeable baby bump. The sight filled me with fear and excitement.
"Good morning, little one," I whispered, gently running my fingers over my belly's slight curve. "We've got a big day today, you know? Let's try to make it a good one." My voice was soft, almost reverent. I felt a little silly talking to my unborn child like this, but it brought me comfort.
